If we cannot exercise these rights with some common sense, then it's time to remove Constitutional protection.

I doubt you will see an assault weapon ban passed next year, and that only takes 51% to pass, and none of the states have to approve it.

(45,806 posts)I was quite surprised tonight when, as I was talking to my D
IL who is originally from Romania, and now lives in Italy, that she said nobody uses common sense anywhaere anymore! Not in Italy, not in Romania, or any of the countries she and my son have visited, which include Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, and North Africa. I guess I honestly though it was only in the US.
I don't think it's rational, not possible to get the 2nd ammendment repealed. But if you check it out, you will find that the USA has the MOST gun deaths of any country in the world!
My son said you can have shotguns in Italy but the only people permitted to have handguns are the police (and the mafioso, but they're not owned legally). In Romania, you can own a gun for sporting purposes, but you have to be a member of a sporting club and the guns must stay there.
Obviously our laws are way too liberal, and sincer humans appear rarely to behave sanely, we really have to change the laws.
