Very recently, I got in to an argument with a (former) Facebook friend about guns and gun laws... she posted an image on her Wall that said this:
"If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk, and spoons make Rosie O'Donnell fat."
Of course, this is not a valid analogy - people's main intent with pencils is not to misspell words, people's main intent with cars and alcohol is not to go out and kill someone.
Misspelled words can be erased and spelled correctly. Rosie O'Donnell can go on a diet if she want to. A person murdered with a gun cannot be brought back to life.
A few days ago, before she unfriended me, my former Facebook friend said, referring to all the violence in our country "Banning Assault rifles will not change that."
I wonder what she thinks now.
