I was glad to be so close to home, because my tears started flowing, too.

On an iPad or other device. It looked like he skipped a section to jump to the end to get off the dais sooner.
He clearly had been crying already. He must feel a little like a parent to all of those parents.

in that horrific situation.

i'm feeling things this time that i didn't feel after columbine. i felt for others after columbine, but i was childless then. so it was only for others.

this time i have a kindergartner in school not 20 miles from newtown.

it could have been his school.
it could have been my son.

i feel for others this time, but i also feel things for my own family that just wasn't an issue after columbine.

i'm sure barack obama, president of the united states, is feeling things for the families worst affected.
but i'm also sure barack obama, husband and father, is feeling for his own family as well.

to this, who must lead the fight for better gun laws and enforcement of those laws.

Get involved parents. It's not going to happen without a lot more voices pushing for it.

I had a child in preschool for half a day then.

My middle schooler yesterday was as horrified as I was when I told him about the shooting at an elementary school. He was able to identify almost as much as we as parents do, about the loss of completely innocent life. It was close to me as well, having worked as a school nurse at both the elementary school level and middle school level at numerous schools only a year ago. But my mind kept going back to the elementary school my son attended only two years ago. The other day I was looking at 18 month old pix of his "graduation". It's very easy to imagine the horror. My mind keeps seeing my sons' former school.

I just can't imagine Rmoney making a statement on this shooting. He didn't come off as believable during the whole campaign. I just couldn't see him trying to sound sincere talking about this shooting.
