Been doing a lot of thinking the last day and a half...
Thinking that I live directly across the street from an elementary school and thinking that my newly arrived step daughter will be going to that school in September, unless we move. And if we don't win the lottery, we won't be moving.
I ask myself, "What would I do if I were outside raking leaves or whatever and some crazy gun toting bastard came into the school and started shooting?" In reality, I would likely call 911 along with the others who live in this neighborhood and then hide out in my house. I also wonder if I could open my house to any kids who would need a hideout should the unthinkable happen. I know damn well I would if it ever came to that, but in today's litiguous society, what would happen if I did?
I also have been thinking if I would throw myself in front of a bullet to save a kid. That one is harder to answer. I mean we all want to think that we are noble and all that, but if it really came down to it, could any of us do it? It's a dark rainy day here and a dark day in America and that's why I think such things I guess, but having a step daughter whom I love very much, as well as living across the street from a school in a friendly neighborhood makes one's mood change. Ban ALL assault weapons except for police and military. No reason for them whatsoever. Thank you for indulging my dark mood today. Peace to you all.
