National Trauma Poll (2012 Edition)

We are all affected by the "national traumas" that occur and are shared both in the media and the national press. 2012 has had a lot of them. Which one was "the worst" for you? How did it impact your life? What have you done "differently" because of it?

ON EDIT: This post is intended to be 2012 specific. Thank you!

And I probably never will be.

ETA - And I lost a family member in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103. Not over it.

I was rather distressed by the movie theater shooting (I'm a movie buff and go to the movies a lot) but this massacre of kids in Conn. is truly shocking and unprecedented.

I was also impacted by the movie shooting. We saw "The Hobbit" last night, and thought about it. There is an alertness in the movie theater that I didn't have before...

But my twins are 5 years old. I believe enough sacrifices have been made, and now I intend to do do something. Ideas have been going through my head since the movie theater incident, and now I think I have some ideas - fun times ahead, especially because I live in Michigan!
