A point I have been trying to get across to gun fetishists for years.
With a gun, a killer sprays death through the air from a removed location.
It is aerosol death.
A classroom becomes more of a gas chamber than a battle ground when an assailant arrives with the spray-on Death of guns.
This will become even clearer as ray weapons move out of science fiction into reality.
We need to see where we are to prevent where we are going.

(2,928 posts)...for the powerless.
There's the powerlessness we all feel as a tiny elite steers the entire US government directly away from any and all policies that benefit the rest of us.
That realization, that we no longer have much say in our government, puts at least some reason into gun love.
I accuse gun nuts of adopting the wrong solution. Of taking the instant (and extremely dangerous) gratification of gun power over the tedious and slow solution of political renewal.
It feels great to hold that gun. But it not only doesn't subvert the power elite, it entrenches them while causing immense collateral damage to innocents.
