Girl killed in Connecticut shooting lived in Winnipeg

Relatives of a 6-year-old girl who was among the 20 children killed in a shooting massacre at a Connecticut elementary school on Friday say her family had moved from Winnipeg to the U.S. state two months ago.

Elba Marquez said her granddaughter, Ana Grace Marquez, had been enrolled at the Sandy Hook Elementary by her parents because the school had a good reputation.

The family had moved to Connecticut after the girl's mother was hired to teach at a local university, Elba Marquez said.

Relatives confirmed the girl's 9-year-old brother, Isaiah, was also at the school during Friday's shooting, but was not injured.

1. This has really got to me

I woke up crying this morning, I don't know how to snap out of it. It seems like the whole world has fuking gone crazy!!! WHO THE FUCK SHOOTS LIL CHILDREN????!?? AND WHY WAS SUCH PERSON AROUND GUNS?? WHY WOULD HIS MOTHER KEEP GUNS IN THE HOUSE??!?? THE CHILDREN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES WOULD NEVER KNOW WHAT LIFE IS!!
I was for RKBA in the past, but screw this!!! There should be HEAVY background checks and mental evaluation before selling anyone a gun!! But even that I think won't be enough.. :'(

3. How would a mental evaluation

and background check have prevented this tragedy?

His mother owned those guns. Maybe HER mental state and background were just fine. What do we do...start checking on the mental states of people's friends and relatives?

Also, as to why someone would do something so heinous...he had serious mental problems.

Sane people don't do shit like that.

He was acting out the anger he could not verbalize.

Kind of like when people abuse others or cheat on their spouses or drink and drive.
