The reaction will be Increased Security

as if that is the solution.

It reminds me of The Walking Dead, where in the Zombie Apocalypse, the only refuge is a large prison, so the survivors lock themselves inside to protect themselves from all the zombies outside.

That is where we are heading.

Mark my words. The solution won't even be considered to be control of weapons or access to mental health care or any other way to address the ills facing our society.

It will be to lock ourselves inside of prisons, either literally or figuratively.

But I hate it for everyone else and would rather we solve this problem without getting crazier with the security state.

they will work to increase the security, to patch the hole that he exploited.

It never ends with this approach.

This school had 600 students. How many entries, let alone breaking through first floor windows?

I think about my own elementary school days, lazily cleaning erasers outside of a side door entrance, unsupervised. I think about my years as an elementary teacher in the '70's and what in the world I would have done in a similar situation.

My heart is breaking....

Next it will be the shopping malls, the churches, the grocery stores, the hospitals, etc.

The solution isn't to lock ourselves inside because the logical extension of that way of thinking is that we end up in a prison.

There is another solution: address the cause.
