The aunt of the man suspected in the school slayings in Connecticut said today that her family is shocked and saddened by what happened. "Like you, we want to know why," said Marsha Lanza of Crystal Lake. "My heart goes out to all the families." Marsha Lanza is the sister-in-law of Nancy Lanza, who was slain Friday. Nancy Lanza's son, Adam, is considered the suspect in the mass shootings that have rocked the nation. Adam Lanza took his life, authorities say.

Marsha Lanza said that she understood Nancy Lanza had three guns in the house. "Nancy was meticulous," she said. "She would never leave the guns out." Marsha Lanza called Nancy Lanza "self reliant. The only reason she would have guns was for self defense."
