The flow of misinformation is taking it's toll

People deserve to know what has happened.

They have certainly pieced together a timeline and facts they can present to the media. Who can then fill us in.

They aren't even bothering to correct misinformation in their briefings...

Officials must have a pretty good handle on what occurred. And they ought to let us know.

3. The police haven't even officially identified the shooter.

They haven't officially identified the mother dead at the house.

They haven't officially officially anything. They ought to let people know what the hell is going on.

They are allowing speculation, and I'm beginning to wonder how they are handling this investigation.

5. Why? Why do they have a duty to let the general public know as soon as possible?

The vast majority of us have but the slightest connection to this massacre. I'd rather they take their time and get all the facts 100% correct.

such time as all their information is crystal pure.

I can wait.

the media, who in turn can let us know.

It's beginning to look like a circus.

They don't even tell the reporters in the briefing to be careful not to speculate.

10. Understood. FWIW, I don't have a burning need to know.

It won't change anything. Let them do their work. Knowing one or two days early won't bring back the dead.

No offense. If anything is a circus, it's the media making it that way in the first place.

They could be a bit more forthcoming, and still not harm their investigation.

I can wait.

this is a police matter and they have an obligation to do their job. They will make statements as the information is determined to be ready for release, not before...as it should be.

If they aren't releasing info, fine, but we definitely have a right not to be misled about SO MANY parts of this story. I spent half of yesterday waiting to hear more about the alleged second gunman.

14. They will release information

as it is confirmed, not before, that is their obligation. They are not and cannot be responsible for the mistakes of the media. If they tell one thing today and tomorrow it turns out wrong they are raked for that too. If you think you have a right to know, go down to the local PD sometime and ask for the file of an ongoing investigation....it's your right, right?
