...the pepper sprayed beatings of the Occupy movement.

I get the overwhelming sense that those favoring unlimited gun ownership for "fear of their government" are the very same people who cheered these horrific acts on.

You hit the nail on the head. Authoritarian cheerleaders - as long as they get to be judge, jury, and (they hope) executioner.

...were appalled by the Occupy beat-downs and the Kent State murders?

I know for a fact many sided with the peeper spray assholes.
