When you look at all the facts it is so so bad what happened. The first responders who encountered the scene will be haunted in so many ways. I feel sad for them.
When I was in Vietnam I was required to go into a casualty tent to ID some soldiers from our company. Our brigade had about as many KIA as this tragedy near Khe Sahn when it was being rescued from the NVA in April 198. Believe me some things are best kept hidden from the public. As bad as my experience was this situation is much much worse.
Then again if the public really saw what the police saw we might come to our senses. I sense a huge firestorm over what to do about violence such as this.

(10,602 posts)and thankfully I have not been particularly haunted by it for some reason. And yet my remembrance of it is still clear. And yet I know that what the police saw had to be a lot worse and horrifying.
And you are right they haven't ended, but there comes a tipping point and this massacre may be it.

(53,235 posts)endure the horror of war. I'm sorry you had to. And people are massacred every day with war. It's all so demoralizing.

For the record, the worst I ever saw was an eight year old shot in the tummy by cross fire, as far as kids are concerned. The kids always bothered me than the adults.
