HELENA, Mont. A judge has ruled that Montana's medical marijuana law doesn't shield providers of the drug from federal prosecution.
Friday's ruling by U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy is a new blow to the reeling medical marijuana industry that has seen tougher state restrictions and a federal crackdown over the last year.
Molloy says medical marijuana providers can be prosecuted under the federal Controlled Substances Act even if they are following state law. '

(45,274 posts)There seems to be only one rational explanation--the power & influence of the Drug Warriors, combined with the utility of the drug laws in justifying exceptions to the Bill of Rights.

(5,169 posts)Most growers and traffickers want it kept illegal as much, if not more, than the politicians and cops. Keeps the price up and provides an easy way to destroy the competition.

(45,274 posts)I have long argued that the DEA is a price-support mechanism for the drug cartels, and they exist in a symbiotic relationship.
But I was just talking about the government's motives.
