(10,103 posts)Men are the ones who hold on to this system. Men are the ones who try to move back to a religious system where women are second class citizens, because they are the ones who benefit the most.
In a land with few resources, it's counter-productive to keep women uneducated; educating women, not men, is the fastest way to improve the standard of living (yes, there's been studies to prove it.) It's a self-perpetuating downward spiral.

And we are seeking to cooperate with the Taliban, who are the main proponents of this horrible system.

This article, and the news of the brutal attack on the woman in India, and status of women in general, in India .... are examples.
