Is this a NO-BRAINER or what? DO IT, Deval.

Barney Frank: I Want To Be Senator

This morning former Rep. Barney Frank told MSNBC that he has asked Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint him interim Senator to replace John Kerry. Two weeks ago Frank said he "wouldn't say no" if Patrick appointed him. Via Politico:

“A month ago, or a few weeks ago, I said I wasn’t interested,” Frank said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “It was kind of like you’re about to graduate, and they said: ‘You gotta go to summer school.’ But [the fiscal cliff deal] now means that February, March and April are going to be among the most important months in American financial history.” He added, “I’ve told the governor I would now like, frankly, to do that [serve as interim senator].” Frank said he wouldn’t run for Kerry’s seat in a special election, which would likely take place this summer.

However, this is most likely a NO vote for Hagel. He said so a few days ago.

senator frank would be fantastic!

though in the long run i just want to make sure we keep that seat in the 'd' column, so giving it to someone who can keep it for a long time has to be considered as well.

4. Here's another good reason

Republicans are now thinking they're all that with appointing an African-American to replace Sen Jim DeMint. To be honest congress is woefully underrepresented by minorities and women and although I like who they appointed to replace Inouye in Hawaii, I was disappointed it was another white male instead of one of the 2 women they could have picked (both whom were native to Hawaii).

Wouldn't it be great if we had 2 LGBTers in the US Senate even if it only lasted for about 5 months?

6. Too many time interim senators tend to be seat warmers

I know when they put Ted Kauffman in to 'seat-warm' Joe Biden's old seat - that guy turned out to be a real firebrand especially during the banking crisis. And since he wasn't planning on running for the seat he really didn't care who he pissed off. He is the one that replaced Elizabeth Warren in the Congressional Oversight Panel.
