Club For Growth Urges ‘No’ Vote On Sandy Aid

The conservative group Club For Growth urged lawmakers to vote against approving $9.7 billion in Hurricane Sandy relief for flood insurance on Thursday, noting that the vote would be included on its 2013 Congressional scorecard:

"Congress should not allow the federal government to be involved in the flood insurance industry in the first place, let alone expand the national flood insurance program's authority," reads a statement on the group's website.

Perhaps someone should tell the good people who live along the Mississippi and other rivers than flood regularly about the Club's position.

Prior to the NFIP's existence, insurance coverage for flood losses was not provided by any private insurance carriers.
