I will be the first to identify. But who is "another example of taking a few words out of a sentence to make it mean something other" --- *me*?!1 As the link below shows, including video, it was NOT the photographer who said the line at all. The photographer only said drop/arms. As to making it mean something other, my point is that hokey/that-guy jokes like this (and mine) more often than not DON'T mean anything, are just brain synapse things that might mean nothing while sometimes suggesting uncomfortable possibiliies.

As for "besides he made that joke to" (both) her and him, I purposely used the word "anybody" to steer clear of playing into offense of one gender, since the yuck factor for me would apply to whatever the gender.

I take relief that the replies to my post -- so far -- haven't lobbed allegations of political disloyalty. If the point of this and the other thread is that he's got a killer smile and a lovable personality, I'M THERE. I'm just in prepare-to-cringe-or-maybe-not-this-time whenever he's going to speak, and there have been bits here and there that (some of?) his aides might feel that way, too.

Biden: ‘Spread your legs. You’re going to be frisked’

Posted by Rachel Weiner on January 3, 2013

Vice President Biden was on hand Thursday to pretend to swear in the new members of the Senate (this one is for photos; the real swearing-in happens on the Senate floor). It was an opportunity for a lot of Biden humor.

When a photographer told the husband of Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) to drop his hands to his sides, Biden added, “Spread your legs: You’re going to be frisked.” He added, “You say that to somebody in North Dakota, they think it’s a frisk.”

“They think you’re in trouble, right?” he asked Heitkamp’s husband, a doctor. He shrugged. Heitkamp herself seemed more amused, laughing through the entire photo session. “I’m a little too formal, I know,” he told the incoming senator.

...gaffe's and all. He loves babies, old folks and everyone in between. One of the best goodwill ambassadors I've ever seen in action, if not the best. Yeah, his grandchildren are truly blessed, and everyone who knows him personally. Heck, I'm blessed by him and I will never meet him. The world needs more Joe Biden's. Thanks Kpete for posting this.

Including the young'uns, heh!

Makes ya proud, doesn't it? Seeing a decent, kind, smart and loyal old-time Democrat like Joe B. fulfilling his Vice Presidential meet-&-greet duties.

Wonder how Paul Ryan, that sour-faced Ayn Randian disciple might greet a baby? "Stop drooling at me ya goddamn giggling, wide-eyed moocher! You'll get food and water when you've worked hard enough to earn your keep. Till then keep your apple-cheeked, underclass face out of my way. I've deep thoughts to think and speeches to write extolling the virtues of the Ubermensch 1% whilst castigating the lazy, lay-about 99% for not having the resources to buy their own Congress."

rousing speech to ANY audience from firefighters to families of fallen angels, go to Iraq and make concrete plans to get us out of there, challenge his boss about sending more troops to Afghanistan, confront international leaders, manage the stimulus without any scandal, be influential in getting Obamacare passed & be so excited about it that he calls it a BFD, be a complete loyal VP to the President even when he doesn't agree with him, etc.....

and he does it with a smile, and is not afraid to speak from his heart - the one he wears on his sleeve.

I've been a fan of Joe Biden for a long time.
