Activism time! Do you think the local authorities in Steubenville, Ohio and state attorney general's office are neglecting the prosecution of the rape case involving the HS football players? Let's contact the regional congressional delegation as well as Atty. Gen. Holder.
Steubenville's representation in Congress:
- Rep. Bill Johnson (R, OH-6, Ted Strickland's former district) : (202) 225-5705 (but doesn't accept email from outside his district)
- Sen. Sherrod Brown (D, who won re-election this year against a well funded RW opponent) : (202) 224-2315; or an e-mail form is here http://www.brown.senate.gov/contact/
- Sen. Rob Portman (R, yeah I know but still) : (202) 224-3353, or email http://www.portman.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/contact?p=contact-form
US Dept of Justice public comment line is 202-353-1555. The email is AskDOJ@usdoj.gov.
Ted Strickland, who represented the US House district that included S-ville from '97 to '07 and then was governor of Ohio before current governor Kasich, can be reached via Facebook or Twitter.
I'm glad a local Occupy branch is out there demanding justice for the victim. Sherrod Brown or Ted Strickland should at least join in.
