Bill Clinton named 'Father of the Year'

Former President Bill Clinton is getting props for being a good dad.

Clinton was named the “Father of the Year” by the National Father’s Day Council on Wednesday

The group selected Clinton for his “profound generosity, leadership and tireless dedication to both his public office and many philanthropic organizations,” Dan Orwig, chairman of the National Father’s Day Committee, said in the announcement.

And conservative heads exploded.

It was taken at the opening of the Clinton Library in Little Rock. Whatever faults Bill may have, he has been a great father. He and Hillary have been good parents and they have raised a daughter who would make any parent proud.

You're welcome.

It's one of my favorite pics of her. She's a trooper. I've been at events where she would stay signing stuff and posing for pics until Huma would whisper that it was time to move on. Bill is even worse, his staff almost has to drag him out of events. He loves to talk to people and hear what they have to say.

The one who burnt up the carpet in the statehouse. I was there.

Maybe they rebuilt their relationship after that, though.

But it's OK to have a zillion positive posts about other Democrats, right?

I will never apologize for thinking that both Clintons are good people and deserving of praise. Are they perfect? Of course not, no one is. I have personally seen what kind of person Hillary is since her years as a NY senator. In my book she's terrific.

As for your patronizing tone, you can stick up your a..

As for being positive about the Clintons, well someone has to be on this board. This is definitely not a Clinton friendly site.

Do you also go throw dirt at posts about Michelle's fashion choices or Obama's cool WH pics? If you do, then I'll say that you're at least even handed.

I'm an admirer of President Clinton, and acknowledge his "profound generosity, leadership and tireless dedication to both his public office and many philanthropic organizations", but what does that have to do with being a father in particular?

Not saying that he isn't a good father, but he had lots of advantages that other men do not have.

"there must have been some kind of payback, pressure or buyout for this - the way Clinton's do business."

Absolutely pathetic comment and more appropriate for a right wing site than here.

BTW, this is not a competition between Obama and Clinton.

Gee......

Yeah sure, Obama and his campaign were milk and honey. I could list plenty of examples too, but why bother?

BTW, the reference was to Obama's lack of experience. It was not to imply that McCain would be a better choice, but that Hillary would be a better candidate against McCain. The economic collapse took care of that. At that point the Democrats could have run Mickey Mouse and the Republicans would have still lost.
