The iPad rested on a bench at a tiki bar in Terminal 1. It was packed with $13,000 in cash and destined for a rendezvous with a humble, yet honest, cleaning man.
Patrick Morgan, who runs a cleaning service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, noticed the iPad as he was making his rounds at 1 a.m. on Dec. 19.
"I opened it and there was an envelope with some money," Morgan said Wednesday. He didn't count it, but instead immediately called security. An airport employee met him and examined the find.
"Yes, I found it," the cleaner replied. "Don't worry, it's okay."
The unidentified man, who officials later said had returned from Las Vegas, handed Morgan $60 for his honesty.
But Wednesday, Morgan's boss increased that bounty tenfold, handing him a check for $625. "He's everything you'd seek in a good business partner, a good friend," said Mark Klein, with Sunshine Cleaning Systems, which sub-contracts work to Morgan's company, Patricks Cleaning Service of Plantation.

(85 posts)I've done it quite a few times. I buy, fix and resell cars on the side, all with cash for extra money. Don't think much of carrying around 10k in cash.

(5,354 posts)If I was carrying that much around (which isn't ever going to happen), It'd be in a pouch around my neck at all times. Still - it's nice to see such honesty.

(23,156 posts)I work the information desk at a hospital, and since last Friday have fielded reports of at least three different lost IPads.
I don't get that many reports of lost keys or cell phones.

(21,691 posts)It's easy to forget things when you're juggling extra stuff. It was still there when I went back down to get it a few minutes later (it was my iPad 1, not a newer one) and it was definitely not stuffed with money.

(31,849 posts)the article did indicate that the finder didn't count the money; so it is very likely he was not seeking a reward.
