(13,877 posts)The crazy of the few is oozing out. Sane gun owners and apologists need to step up their game...and digging heels in the NRA Wild Wild West scenario is definitely not enough any more. Same for us former "banners"...time to figure it out sanely.
Every death or injury by gun is increasingly getting airspace and airtime...social media...as it should be. It will ultimately go the way of smoking cigarettes in airplanes and advertising the joys of drinking liquor during family time TV. Is it just a coincidence that it's called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms? It's definitely not the gunners marketing arm of the government.

(56,582 posts)I certainly hope we try. Maybe Congress can "gently persuade" the states to do it, to sidestep Constitutional issues.

(16,038 posts)"intrastate"..I don't think it would survive any scotus at the federal level..the trick is getting states to enact a requirement...maybe if they would fund and enable the existing system more states would enact such legislation..

(16,038 posts)they just need to increase funding NICS and enable it for this purpose..many states would enact private sale checks if the state didn't have to fund it.
