I know that any rescue isn't a guaranteed success. I don't think this was a real attempt to rescue them. I think they wanted to blow hell out of the terrorists come what may.

And, yes, sometimes "we don't negotiate with terrorists" really means just that.

(28,552 posts).... and the idea that given such a situation where several countries are "involved" because their citizens are hostages, just how long does anyone think it would take to create consensus for action? Twelth of never would be my best guess.
