But that's the way bangs were cut in the '50s. There are some rather awful photos of me as a little kid with really short bangs; now I think it looked ridiculous, but that was the style.

1950s bangs, how I despised them so, and yes, I did and do call them "Mamie Eisenhower bangs".

I have wavy hair, and many of my adolescent attempts at Jean Shrimpton bangs ended up like Mamie's.
