Fighting Fire With Fire In The Rs EC Gerrymandering Scheme

Not exactly the same thing, but if Rs are determined to give voters in rural areas more power than urban dwellers through the gerrymandering they're planning in VA, OH & PA, there is a way for blue states to lessen the impact of those moves:

New York, California and every other strong/large population blue state needs to move their presidential primaries ahead of the Iowa caucuses, and ahead of every other red/small state primary.

This will have the effect of forcing the Rs to field moderate candidates for president, candidates who can win in the blue states. The far-right crazy candidates like Bachman, Cain and Santorum will be shit out of luck, out of money and out of the race if they are forced to compete in the big blue states ahead of the rural red states.

Those R candidates who have appeal in the blue states will not be able to campaign on hot button wedge issues like abortion, gay marriage and beating up on the poor. That will have the effect of changing the dialogue of the R party who won't be able to whip up the crazies going into the fall election. And THAT will have the power to change votes in those gerrymandered states, for no other reason that it will keep a good number of the crazies home because they won't have a rabid nut to vote for.

We've already been gerrymandered. The Republicans have the majority in our state government.

I haven't invested much solution generating time on the topic yet, I have to overcome my extreme disgust about that and the Senate vote this evening first.
