Damn good thing I don't live in Arizona. Jan Brewer needs to be slapped, and slapped and slapped again. Damn, she's ugly (in character).
Of course, I'm just blowing off steam. I would never hit her.

GOP, Teahadist, Ron Paul...their pile of bullshit just keeps getting higher and higher.
I'm not wishing a frying pan to their heads, but a jail cell would be nice.

(101 posts)You just may not like the solution.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)In this case. That is clear but snark is your game. I suppose you need things spelled out completely all the time. I understand some do.
The whole claim that the right is the violent ones right after watching Gabby and President Obama hug is ludicrous while people here are gitty about violent thoughts and day dreams of causing injury. Rising above is not possible for some.
Jean V. Dubois
(101 posts)There might be those who "rise above", but they're few and far between on the right or the left. Violence is part of the human condition, and will remain such indefinitely....mainly because violence frequently is the most efficient solution for a given problem.
Whether or not it's a moral solution is an entirely different question, yes?
Broderick
(4,578 posts)Are you advocating violence against a woman; namely ms. Brewer? Violence against her solves what in particular? Do you have feelings of causing bodily harm to her?
President Obama handled it properly. No public flogging. He just dismissed her and walked away. He didn't break her finger or slap her. He set a good example and clearly many didn't get it.
Jean V. Dubois
(101 posts)I do not advocate violence towards Ms. Brewer in any way whatsoever. I was simply speaking of the ridiculous blanket assertion that violence never solves anything.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)and understand that when I post, unless I specifically state otherwise; I am referring to the topic at hand.
EOTE
(13,409 posts)It's somewhat idiotic to complain that a poster is going off topic by replying to something that YOU said.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)Stay with it please. It solves nothing. In this case. In this thread. You read too much into it and you fail to understand that I was addressing the thread topic. If I specifically state that I am not on thread topic I will do so. Amusing to me how people extrapolate outside the topic for my brief post. Follow along. It might take some time, but eventually you will understand. The topic at hand is slapping Ms. Brewer.
EOTE
(13,409 posts)That's not exactly how discussion forums work. If you don't want someone responding to what you write, you shouldn't write it. Christ, it's really not all that complicated.
On edit: More specifically, people were responding to the idiotic assertion that violence solves nothing as well as the inane assertion that those on the left are hypocritical to suggest that those on the right are the violent ones. Both of those asinine assertions were addressed by other posters. If you don't want people correcting your BS, perhaps keeping quiet would be best.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)Maybe you ought relax and breath while you try to stay on topic. You are just musing your own assertions and not following along, as I figured you would have trouble with.
Rec the thread even. I see you haven't done that.
EOTE
(13,409 posts)If I see stupid shit on a discussion forum, I'm going to respond to it, thanks. You've given me lots of stupid shit to respond to. Hey, your post isn't on topic! Why can't you stay on point?
A wise Man
(1,076 posts)Throughout history violence has been placed upon the meek and non violence.... results the violence win because the meek won't fight. The problems come from hate, low self esteem, ignorance and the belief that they are more powerful than the masses. Turning the other cheek and saying "I LOVE YOU" is not the solution to evil. The meek has to become strong and stop taking "SHIT IN THEIR FACE AND MADE TO EAT IT". I am non violent but "don't F... with me"!!!
EOTE
(13,409 posts)of the past 60 or so years. Christ, just look at how many progressive politicians have been assassinated in the past century. That's a fact regardless of how "gitty" people here become. And with that being said, violence sometimes DOES solve problems. Denying that is fairly dumb.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)Heck no. But, the irony of it is that we complain about it, try to take the higher ground, but then we get posts like this advocating violence and fantasy of violence towards a female politician. Seems hypocritical to me. No? You endorse the musings of violence towards women, and female politicians? Right after we saw that wonderful moment between Barack Obama and Gabby Giffords? Really?
To each his own. I merely point it out that we lose our moral ground by becoming what we despise in reciprocation.
Seems below the standards of this website, but I am not one to do any more than point it out.
EOTE
(13,409 posts)"The whole claim that the right is the violent ones right after watching Gabby and President Obama hug is ludicrous "
And no, it's not hypocritical. Because overall, we DON'T engage in that violence regardless of how much is spoken about it. I have no problem with "musings of violence" toward Jan Brewer, she's a disgusting piece of trash.
Broderick
(4,578 posts)if we do the same thing. It defeats the moral high ground. I could have been more clear there, but I am glad to know that you advocate violence and musings of violence towards female politicians. People often reveal their nature and many have in this thread. When the next uproar over the right happens and violence, you will have no standing. Because you advocate what you supposedly despise if you get wadded up. No rising above for you.
EOTE
(13,409 posts)Gotcha, champ. And you feel the need to separate this issue by gender? So in your mind, "musings of violence" toward male politicians is okey dokey?
And fuck, you really have a very hard time with moral equivalencies (look it up). When the next uproar occurs, I will have all the standing in the world. You wanna know why? Because I don't fucking beat up people I don't agree with. You really need to garner somewhat of a clue.

Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar,
but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
So it goes.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence,
adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

(27,310 posts)How would it read if I said that Obama needs to be shackled, and shackled and shackled again.
Of course, I'm just blowing off steam. I would never shackle him.

(21,691 posts)Because "shackling" has the exact same connotations as "slapping." Oh wait - they don't.
Luminous Animal
(27,310 posts)But slap him. Boo yah! I am going to slap and slap and slap him in the face.
Except I won't. Because that would be wrong.
Control-Z
(15,682 posts)And find it odd, quite odd in fact, that you had the desire to "shackle" him for it. I can't imagine what the president could possibly do to you personally that would make you want to "shackle" him. (If someone were up in my face I can't imagine wanting to shackle him/her for it.) So now that I've shown how little your hypothetical resembles the very real situation here, I would be grateful you were just blowing off steam. Damn nice we have a place like DU to do that, isn't it?
Luminous Animal
(27,310 posts)I find it odd that you desire to slap a person again and again and again.
I am curious. If that had been a man pointing a finger towards Obama, would you want to slap that man and slap him again and again? Or would you ponder on punching him again and again and again.
Control-Z
(15,682 posts)I'd feel the same.
Slap, and slap and slap and slap. Just like when I'm caffeine deprived and I want coffee, coffee coffee. Yep. And since I've never hit anyone in my adult life, and don't expect I ever will, it was/is really the only thing that comes to mind - like I've seen in movies, when a particularly disgusting character goes around shitting on everything good.
So what did Brewer do? She tried to shit on my president.
Now your turn. What would possess you to even say you wanted to shackle Barack Obama? Pretty twisted thinking if you ask me.
