Can Dems and Repubs work out compromise on Immigration and Gun Reforms?

After all, the Repubs need a compromise on immigration so they can appeal to the Hispanic vote. It is about their survival as a Party. They need to compete for the Hispanic vote if they are ever to win the White House again.

Democrats need a compromise on assault weapons that is good enough to appease many in their Party that are sick of the gun nuts. Perhaps they don't need a compromise as bad as the Repubs but they want one.

So for the first time in a long time, we may see compromise from the two Parties on two important issues. However, it would be more for the sake of survival than for the sake of compromise. We shall see if it happens?

Immigration WILL get done. Republicans only have one thing in their minds, grabbing power. From the voter ID laws to toying with these electoral vote scams, they are only getting more and more brazen about it. They will not do ANYTHING related to government at this point unless it somehow has political gain for them.

In their entitled minds, the fact that hispanics vote democratic drives them crazy, They feel they are somehow entitled to their votes because of their supposedly "conservative" cultural tendencies. As a party they believe if they let immigration reform pass, put Marco Rubio on the national ticket as President or VP, they will be golden.

So, this WILL happen.

Gun control, not a chance. Not only is it something that they can't screw with one of the three legs of their coalition on, there are A LOT of democratic house members who dont' want anything to do with it, either.

MAYBE they get the ID thing passed, outside chance they get something done with the "loop hole" and they most certainly will find a way to come together to attack the rights of those who get labeled mentally ill. But, there is not the first chance, NONE they pass any legislation relative to a fire arm or ammunition.
