Are colleges in your area going to 14-week semesters? I know of one local college in my area

that's already gone to the 14-week semester, and at a local community college it's being discussed.

Edited to add: Anyone know what's the rationale for this?

Are they switching from a quarter system or shortening a 16 week semester?

The only rationales I could imagine would be cost savings on overhead or speeding up time to degree (since content apparently matters not anymore - just degree completion).
