Soundgarden frontman to play upcoming fundraiser for President Obama
Campaign season is creeping up, and that means its time for musicians and other celebrities to pick their respective candidates and let the endorsements and fundraising concerts begin. Soundgarden and former Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell is long known for his passion for politics and social causes, and the grunge crooner is now using his talents to support President Barack Obamas 2012 re-election campaign.

(85,996 posts)We cant compare it to anything. It was a four day experience, and the audience didnt know what to expect. It was a focus on the arts in general, and it was an important role everyones daily life that day. Sometimes there are casual fans in the U.S. who just dont give a shit. My dad isnt really into art or music, and here everyone was heavily interested and educated in art and art forms. The performance itself was unusual because it was the closest that Cuba had to an outdoor festival; 70,000 people were estimated to have been there. And the crowd reaction a lot of people just observing. Cuban-Afro music and performances are pretty participatory, and our music wasnt really that way. Its not music youd usually clap your hands to and shake your ass to. I felt like were like Pink Floyd in that way, and Im still stunned we were doing at that point and have a lot of gratitude for it. I dont think the performance was that well, and we filmed the film part of the experience while I was sick.

Live in Cuba is the first live DVD of the American rock supergroup Audioslave, containing footage of the free concert that the band performed in Cuba in front of over 70,000 people. The concert itself is considered to be an historical event, as it marks the first time in Cuban history that an American rock band has been permitted to perform within the country. The DVD features the show itself, and also a 37 minute documentary based on the band and their time spent in Cuba. According to Chris Cornell (said during the concert), at the time the concert was performed it was the longest one that Audioslave had played.
The setlist consists mainly of songs from the first two Audioslave albums, Audioslave and Out of Exile, however a selection of older songs from the band's previous groups Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine are also featured. The band had previously refused to perform any pre-Audioslave material on their first tour, as they felt it would only damage their attempts to establish themselves as a new band who were independent of their former groups.
While the DVD was released five months after the band's second album Out of Exile, the performance itself was recorded
