2. More...

We regret to inform you, but yesterday Monsanto succeeded in passing Section 735, otherwise known as the Monsanto Protection Act, in the Senate. This is outrageous and another sign of the betrayal of toxic leadership in Washington DC.

Last night, a super majority of the U.S. Senate (73 to 26) passed the Continuing Resolution HR 933 that contained the dangerous provision that strips the important concept of “judicial review” from our courts.

The House must confirm the Senate’s amendment of Continuing Resolution and we need your help to

The passage of Section 735 strikes a major blow against America’s constitution, farmers and the environment that undermines our basic democratic rights in favor of continued corporate welfare and failed oversight of GMO crops.

As Food Democracy Now! and our allies alerted you this past week, Section 735, the Monsanto Protection Act, gives Monsanto and other biotech companies a blank check that allows them to undermine our constitution and plant their untested crops while they are under court review.

Even if their new GMO crops are ultimately proven to be harmful to human health or the environment, Section 735 allows them to be planted the minute the USDA approves them!

The bad news, currently 13 new crops are awaiting approval at the USDA and AquaBounty’s GMO salmon is on the verge of being approved by the FDA.

If the House passes the Senate amendments to the Continuing Resolution HR 933, the floodgates are literally open for Monsanto, DuPont and Dow Chemical’s new GMO crops that are resistant to more toxic chemicals like 2,4-D, Agent Orange and dicamba that will replace failing Roundup Ready GMO crops, that have created a new generation of superweeds.

3. Yeah, he signed it

He had to sign it or the economy was at risk. I'm still pissed off that these motherfuckers can attach a rider at the last minute to try to stall any progress and I'm trying to be forgiving, but this is hard. It's a 6 month thing and can only imagine how much Monsanto can accomplish in just 6 months. Fucking politics, I wish the entire Republican side of Congress a cloud of Round-Up in their next meeting.
