Very Poor GOP Voter Turnout in Nevada

The Las Vegas Sun reports that voter turnout for the Nevada caucuses was very low, despite the Republican Party’s constant fear-mongering and attacks on President Obama.

Something’s going wrong with the GOP strategy of demonization and Tea Party ultra-conservatism; I suspect the toxic atmosphere of the far right is beginning to turn off center right Republicans, and that could spell big trouble for the GOP in the general election.

Maybe people are smartening up and learning that the GOP does NOT have their best interests in mind. Only their own. And that of the very richest. And corporations, of course. But then again, my friend, corporations are people, right Mittens?

They can see the Tea Party strategies are dragging the whole party down and ruining the GOP brand ....

Hey - They are just finding out what we already know: Conservative philosophy, taken deep into it's extreme, is a losing philosophy with little real support in the electorate. All the shouting and stridency from the Tea Party adherents, with their extreme views of governance, are intolerable to the moderate GOP and moderate Independents .... They are already bolting for the door ...

The ugly nasty campaign ads are coming, and as long as Obama and the Democrats respond to EACH one with a sane and rational refutation of the lies we would expect from them, they will have no problem securing another term .... People want government to work for them, and it is clear that the TeaVangelists in the GOP are not in office to make it work for people ...

1. Support for fascists, both in America (see: Pat Buchanan, Robert Stacy McCain, etc.) and in Europe (see: Vlaams Belang, BNP, SIOE, Pat Buchanan, etc.)

2. Support for bigotry, hatred, and white supremacism (see: Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, Robert Stacy McCain, Lew Rockwell, etc.)

3. Support for throwing women back into the Dark Ages, and general religious fanaticism (see: Operation Rescue, anti-abortion groups, James Dobson, Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, the entire religious right, etc.)

4. Support for anti-science bad craziness (see: creationism, climate change denialism, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, James Inhofe, etc.)

5. Support for homophobic bigotry (see: Sarah Palin, Dobson, the entire religious right, etc.)

6. Support for anti-government lunacy (see: tea parties, militias, Fox News, Glenn Beck, etc.)

7. Support for conspiracy theories and hate speech (see: Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Birthers, creationists, climate deniers, etc.)

8. A right-wing blogosphere that is almost universally dominated by raging hate speech (see: Hot Air, Free Republic, Ace of Spades, etc.)

9. Anti-Islamic bigotry that goes far beyond simply criticizing radical Islam, into support for fascism, violence, and genocide (see: Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, etc.)

10. Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies, into racism, hate speech, and bizarre conspiracy theories (see: witch doctor pictures, tea parties, Birthers, Michelle Malkin, Fox News, World Net Daily, Newsmax, and every other right wing source)

And much, much more. The American right wing has gone off the rails, into the bushes, and off the cliff.

I won’t be going over the cliff with them.

So they can have a clan rally to mobilize the base and turn off indies, or have a portion of the base stay at home and not offend indies.
