Bob McDonnell: Republican Governors, Not Obama, Deserve Credit For Rising Economy

From the Department of it takes Big Balls:

Bob McDonnell: Republican Governors, Not Obama, Deserve Credit For Rising Economy

WASHINGTON -- Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell said Sunday that Republican governors deserve credit for
the improving economy.

"I'm glad the economy is starting to recover, but I think it's because of what Republican governors are
doing in their states, not because of the president," McDonnell said on CNN's "State of the Union with
Candy Crowley."

McDonnell did not elaborate on what the governors have done. But he said Republican governors are
in charge of more states with positive economic conditions. "Eleven out of the top 15 states in America
that are ranked by CNBC as top places to do business are Republican states," he said. "Seven out of the
10 states that have had the biggest drop in unemployment are states run by Republican governors."

"This race is coming down to three things. It's leadership, it's jobs, and it's the national debt and deficit,"
McDonnell said. "And on all of those, President Obama's failed. He spends most of his time blaming
Republicans and the Tea Party and Wall Street for all the problems in the country and not taking responsibility.
He's completely failed to get the national debt and deficit under control. He's contributed nearly $5 trillion
to the national debt with no plan to get out of it.

Of course McDonnell did not say what he and the other republican governors have done ....

Isn't that just absolutely idiotic of him to go with that? Like anyone should give any credibility to an RNC propaganda arm like CNBC, which is pretty much a circle-jerk circus between Joe Kernen and his wealthy buddies.

The Dems need to make an illustrating how many public sector jobs have been lost and how the numbers would be even better if those jobs had not been cut. History will show that the public sector will creep back...especially if its a GOP administration. They put a lot of political appointees in and their family members in those positions.

The problem is that the MSM will not questioned them about it. They let them get away with it and never challenge them.
At best they have a Dem on to give a he said/she said. (As Crowley did here, but she did not push McDonnell on it)

Oops. O'Donnell sure did! So, will O'Donnell credit Obama's stimulus that all of them roundly smeared (but many still pocketed) for helping? They didn't do it all on their own. Plus, O'Donnell appeared went Enron/Arthur Anderson and used a bunch of accounting tricks to make things look better.
http://mediamatters.org/research/201108250024

I wonder how many other Republican governors accepted Obama's stimulus money and/or resorted to accounting tricks to make things look better?

the most job losses per month was when the stimulus kicked in and
turned things around.

But still "they" keep up w/ the "stimulus failied" meme.

BTW Rick Perry used the stimulus to balance the budget in Texas.

What's even worse is that they took stimulus funds that they publicly smeared to help them stay afloat and help repair holes in their budgets. Once again, the Republicans are failing to take responsibility for the problems they caused while claiming all the credit for things getting better while the Kenyan Socialist is in the WH. Actually, with the economy starting to noticeably improve, they've now shifted gears from saying that the economy is in awful shape and that Kenyan Socialist in the WH is making things worse to "he could've done better". Of course, they'll never really be made to answer how but still. Of course, if this comes up in debates, then Obama can simply remind Romney and the rest of the country that many Republican governors took the much derided stimulus funds that helped them shore up their states and some governors explicitly rejected money that could have been used to create jobs and infrastructure in their states (i.e. high speed rail). Whatever else you can say about the stimulus, it certainly helped staunch the bleeding that we were were experiencing at the time and I suspect helped keep things from getting worse than what they might have been.

.... capital was frozen. I always laugh @ "free market capitalists" who say
that government should stay out of the economy and let the market dictate
how things are going to be ...... what the stimulus did was stimulate a
capitalistic system by an injection of capital.

And don't get me started about "the debt"

Over the last few years, they started arresting anyone who "looked like an illegal alien" in Prince William County Virginia. They arrested more than 700 people in 1 year and found 2 "illegal aliens". The Prince William County supervisor said the program was a great success in keeping "illegals" out of his county as the "illegal" population had dropped during the same year. No actual stats or information about anything was ever given, just cheers for some fake job well done.

In fact, the Hispanic population dropped in the area due to the housing collapse and shortage of jobs. That didn't stop the repukes from lying their asses off to justify their illegal racial profiling.

by making workers poorer, less safe, less protected. Republicans don't believe that the two can co-exist peacefully. Just like they apparently think that despoiling the environment is required for a strong economy.
