Karl Rove offended by Clint Eastwoods Chrysler ad
Posted by Rachel Weiner at 12:52 PM ET, 02/06/2012
A Chrysler ad aired during the Super Bowl Sunday night has inspired ire among some Republicans and admiration among some Democrats with both sides seeing a political message that boosts President Obama.
In an ad touting the resurgence of the American auto industry, Clint Eastwood declared that its halftime in America and our second halfs about to begin, which could be interpreted as a reference to Obamas second term.?
The ads themes seem to echo Obamas own argument that his administration brought the auto industry back from the brink of disaster.
They almost lost everything, Eastwood says of Detroit. But we all pulled together. Now Motor City is fighting again.
I was, frankly, offended by it, said Karl Rove on Fox News Monday. I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, I thought it was an extremely well-done ad, but it is a sign of what happens when you have Chicago-style politics, and the president of the United States and his political minions are, in essence, using our tax dollars to buy corporate advertising.

(19,066 posts)What Karl fails to understand is that corporations are people and they have the right to free speech. If Chrysler want's to make an ad touting their recovery which was made possible by Obama, then who are we to violate their right to free speech. LOL.
The Republicans just hate the fact that Chrysler and GM are doing so well now. They'd rather than Toyota or Honda were the #1 automaker in the World. Obama saved the auto industry and they paid back their loans and we're a stronger and more secure country because of their recovery.

(35,699 posts)Chrysler paid for the ads. Are you saying that because the U.S. government owns some shares of Chrysler that tax dollars bought the advertising? That is a stretch and I do believe that you know it and that it has absolutely nothing to do with "Chicago-style" politics, whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. More of your "uniter not a divider" language?

(70,516 posts)Rove had his Swift Boaters for Truth smear campaign run by Creative Response Concepts
slime John Kerry as a coward in Vietnam even though Kerry was awarded a bronze star,
a silver star, and three purple hearts and at the same time he did not lose one man in his
command doing some of the most hazardous duty of the war.
And Rove says he was offended by Eastwood's ad? Please
If Rove is against something I will almost always know it is something that I can support.

The ad gave americans hope. And you can't have that. The lizard people need the american people to feel hopeless, to feel fear; how can they win otherwise.

Maybe Rove will go back and change his statement 4 more times like he did when he testified during the Scooter Libby investigation.
No one, other than Bush and Cheney themselves, personifies the miserable failure of the Bush administration more than Karl "The Moran" Rove.
