This time it took a diagonal path to the other one but it wasn't as big and destructive.

I got tired of listening to CNNs drama of it and switched to The Weather Channel. They showed slices of the doppler radar which was cool because you could see the height of the storms. Incredible. They were up to 50,000 feet high! These storms were packing alot of energy mostly built up from the 90 degree weather they had during the day.

As the storm bore down on the OKC metro area I realized that my house was far to close to the impending storm then ever before. They were saying on TV get out now, drive north, drive south.. For the first time since moving to Oklahoma, I donned the proper tornado clothing, grabbed my furbabies and drove as quickly as I could just ahead of the storm. It was close. As I am driving along, I hear them talking about what the storm is doing just as I have passed the area. OMG! Holy sh*t!

I ran into street flooding on the way home and had to drive up onto some lawns to get off the road, taking refuge with a nice family. My babies were in the car so after a while (and a bathroom break) I went to spend the night with them in my car. Note to myself, I really need to put better emergency gear in my car. I had visions of being there all night but the water went down by about 12:30am and I was able to start heading home again.

My house lucked out and everything was fine went I got home. But that was sure luck that the storm began moving more south easterly.

What I learned from my tonight's adventure. Next time I'll stay home and go down with the house if that is what the fates decree. I really don't want another night like this.
