OpenWatch has just revamped their smartphone video app!

The new version for Android and iPhone, called OpenWatch: Social Muckraking, has just been released!

It now includes the ability to livestream a low-quality version of the video you're taking on the fly (so if a cop smashes your camera or erases the memory card, it's already too late for him!)

They're calling it OpenWatch - Social Muckraking because it's useful for all sorts of activism - broadcasting police misconduct, covertly filming at slaughterhouses (where there are unconstitutional laws banning such activity), documenting repression in other countries, etc. etc. etc.

The old version hadn't been updated in a while and was broken on newer phones running Jelly Bean. The new app is a complete rewrite that fixes that and adds the new streaming capability.

It has the virtue of being able to record while the screen's turned off, so you don't draw attention to yourself.

Once the recording's done, it can be uploaded to the Openwatch web site, though unlike the new OpenWatch app in the OP, it doesn't livestream.
