As a lifelong progressive who was/still is fighting for equal rights for all folks. I was just starting out on my journey in 64, Was/still am a proud progressive / Hippie,And I've seen the commercial peripherally and until all of the debate started paid 0 attention to it, like most of the people out there, guess i'll have to look for it and see what all the fuss is about , but trust me on this the folks of the 60's laid the ground work for protest, Remember Kent state good folks died for what they believed period.

...it was the wingers who complained about it, and en force. They are a bunch of cry-babies. They cried about ACORN and Congress held an effing vote. No hearings, no investigation. Nothing. And in less than a week, ACORN was no more. Then remember when they whined over the lady in the AG Dept, Shirly Sherrod (?), rigging up a tape to make it sound like she made a racial slur against a white farmer? Wammo...she was gone. Wingers scream, and Congress and PO acts, and the MSM is on it like white on rice. If we scream, nobody hears us. Even if we have 100s of thousands in the streets, and millions all over the world before the US cabal's unwarranted preemptive wars. GW called us a "focus group". 100s of thousands of people are a "focus group."

Well that's what happened here. Wingers had a great big temper tantrum, and I think I know why. We all know they hate PO. Well, that interracial couple in that cheerios commercial sort of looked like the family that PO was born into. If I was that cereal company, I would have told them to get out more. The Ad was a depiction of a normal American household.

I swear, wingers are like a bunch of spoiled brats. They do it because they can. They do it because they are so experienced at immaturity. And the USG and big business quake in their boots when the wingers do it. It's disgusting seeing it happen time after time after time.

1924, by the way, was the year that one of the most odious immigration laws in U.S. history was passed.

It's meant to shame the assholes who are bigots, not force people to dig into the history books (via Google) to see what obscure reference you've made.
