Nevada 13-year-old girl dies after accidental shooting by another teen

teen girl died Tuesday after what is believed to have been an accidental shooting in a Las Vegas home. According to KVVU Channel 5 Las Vegas, the girl was one of three juveniles in the home at the time of the shooting, which is currently believed to have been an accident.

Las Vegas Metro Police spokesperson Sgt. Annette Darr told Channel 5, “We can’t give out information on age, but what I can tell you is this….I can tell you three juveniles were inside the home.”

Police stated that the shooting was accidental.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal said that it was unclear whether adults were present in the home and that neighbors are worried about the safety of their own children.

“It makes me worry about whether I let even the people I know have my kids,” neighbor Kelly Lincoln told the newspaper.

Neighborhood residents told Channel 5 that the house where the shooting took place has been the scene of trouble before.

“Two weeks ago cops came, and then about two weeks before that the cops came – it was more than one cop. It wasn’t just a quick thing,” one resident said.

Sgt. Darr of the Metro Police urged gun owners to be responsible with their weapons.

“Guns should be kept under lock and key at all times. Gun safes are the best bet so children don’t have easy access to firearms,” she told Channel 5.
