The owner on this pit bull is a blithering idiot.
The dog has bit her, neighbors, it was abused by it's former owners, and now it tore open a year-old baby's face.
Yet the woman still defends the dog. (Which is going to be put down.)
CALEDONIA,Wis. A 15-month-old toddler is in the hospital after getting mauled by a pit bull.
Caledonia police told WISN 12 News reporter Christina Palladino the child was at home with his mother in Caledonia Wednesday night when the attack happened.
"My son, who's 15 months, is bleeding from the face. The dog bit him in the face," the mother told a 911 dispatcher.
Caledonia police said the toddler was sitting on the floor eating a cookie and the pit bull lunged at his face.
"The dog had bitten the child in the face. It had ripped open a part of his nose, around the mouth area was torn open. The child lost several teeth," Caledonia police Lt. Gary Larsen said.
Police said the baby's mother moved into the house with her boyfriend's family about a week ago.
The boyfriend's mother owns the pit bull. Police said she was attacked by the dog a few years ago, sending her to the hospital to get stitches on her hand.
She spoke to WISN 12 News briefly about Wednesday night's attack.
"All you do is talk bad stuff and nothing good, and it was just an accident, and she was a good girl," pit-bull owner Jacqueline Ziminski said.
But neighbors told WISN 12 News they were terrified of the pit bull named Mary Jane.

(1,016 posts)They then try to justify their bad behavior. Just like some moms defend their sons.
In high school I knew of a family who would send their kids to school sick, but if their dog sneezed, it was off to the vet.

(12,296 posts)Doesn't matter what breed. Although I do personally dislike Pits, I've seen vicious smaller dogs too.
Am currently trying to rehab an Australian Cattle Dog who was treated like Queen Shit in her first home & allowed to bite, nip and misbehave, ultimately landing her in a shelter as 'aggressive' and 'unadoptable' except to rescues.
A weapon is a weapon, the damage done by that weapon depends on the person handling it. That said, a rocket launcher can do alot more damage than a pistol.

(2,899 posts)It was not an "accident". This poor little boy will have to live the rest of his life horribly disfigured because of this woman's fatal attraction for the monster she obscenely named Mary Jane.

(46,179 posts)That's not defending it; I'm not going to defend the dog.
A dog that came out of an abusive situation, of any breed, needs careful, responsible handling. In the beginning, when it became clear that the dog had aggression issues, it should have been turned over to someone qualified to address those issues. Instead, the situation was allowed to escalate over a long period of time.
First strike: the humans that abused.
Second strike: the owner that didn't rehabilitate the dog or turn it over to someone who could, and who didn't structure the dog's life to provide security and safety.
Third strike: the woman who moved in with her boyfriend and his mother, taking her baby with her, into an obviously bad environment.
Result? A dangerous dog, and a traumatized, injured child with long-term consequences.
