2 charged after dog bites boy - twice

A repeat incident of a Presa Canario biting a 5-year-old boy in the face prompted Alameda County prosecutors to charge the child's mother and the dog's owner with felony child endangerment, authorities said Friday.

The most recent bite occurred May 19 at an apartment in Pleasanton, said Jeff Bretzing, a lieutenant in that city. Officers and paramedics reported finding the boy with facial injuries after he had been left in a room with the 96-pound, 6-year-old dog named Boston.

Marc Kornberg, who owned the dog and lived in the apartment, was home at the time along with the boy's mother, 27-year-old Myrvete Lila of Dublin. The boy was treated for his wounds at a hospital, Bretzing said, and the dog was seized.

An investigation then revealed that the Presa Canario had earlier bitten the boy in the face after the two were left alone in a room on March 6, an attack that also required hospital treatment, Bretzing said. The dog was at that time temporarily placed on home quarantine at Kornberg's request.

2. Quit leaving the dog alone with children

WTF. Twice they left the dog alone with a child and twice the dog bit the kid. I wonder if the kids were sticking their faces in the dog's face. Kids have been known to do that.

4. The only reason I can think of that they left this poor child with that dog the second time is

that they were actively trying to get the child killed. A horrible thought, right? But why else would you possibly leave a child with that dog unless you wanted the child dead?

5. That was my immediate thought, too!

They wanted the dog to kill the child, so they could claim it was an accident.

Poor little boy--and now the dog will probably be destroyed as well.

Wouldn't hurt a flea.

He does NOT get left alone with any of my very young grandkids. NEVER.

He's a dog.

The chance that he would do anything is probably less than the chance that I win the lottery. But that chance exists.

I am always with him when we visit the kids.

9. I don't think little kids should be left alone with dogs, period.

We had a sweet sweet Golden Retriever many years ago. Named Dudley. I left him alone with my very little girl for a moment to run upstairs for something.
When I came down, she was "riding" him. He had been sitting sphinx fashion. As I hurried down the stairs, Dudley very very gently tilted her off to one side as he stood up. Very gently, very carefully.
I swear he was making sure she didn't fall over. Thank goodness for his sweetness. I never made the mistake again.

this story sounds to me like a "hate the parents story " other than the weekly "hate the dog story "

Are there more bad parents than bad dogs ?
