No one has mentioned the early departure of Tom Donilon as National Security adviser..

and being replaced by Susan Rice.

Did he get out ahead of this story or was it just a coincidence?

The timing was rather interesting. Especially with the story of the last couple of days about the leaks, etc...

Keith Alexander is head of the NSA. A Bush appointee from 2005.

But the National Security Adviser is very close to the President and is a very important position.
