Booz Allen Statement on Reports of Leaked Information (NSA, Snowden)

http://www.boozallen.com/media-center/press-releases/48399320/statement-reports-leaked-information-060913

June 9, 2013

Booz Allen can confirm that Edward Snowden, 29, has been an employee of our firm for less than 3 months, assigned to a team in Hawaii. News reports that this individual has claimed to have leaked classified information are shocking, and if accurate, this action represents a grave violation of the code of conduct and core values of our firm. We will work closely with our clients and authorities in their investigation of this matter.

(end snip)

as Atrios says in a tweet:

3 months at booz allen. do they give 3 month employees the launch codes too?

BoozAllen.com Is Undergoing Maintenance

http://www.boozallen.com/media-center/press-releases/48399320/statement-reports-leaked-information-060913

From the Guardian story --

The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.

Recall that Dell acquired Perot Systems in 2009 to expand their services business.

But it is not clear how "various" his work history has been. It will be interesting to see how his co-workers react.

My understanding is that he was employed by the NSA for around 4 years under various contract companies...Dell among them.

But after 3 months is about when you decide whether you've made a hiring mistake, at least at the $200 K employee level.

7. A subsidary of the Carlyle Group

this is a "private contractor" for the U.S. govt.

The Carlyle Group has long involvement with George H.W. Bush.

The Carlyle Group is way into leveraged buy-outs.

How convenient to be able to tap into private information. Almost like insider trading.

Booz Allen Hamilton, Edward Snowden's employer, is one of America's biggest security contractors and a significant part of the constantly revolving door between the US intelligence establishment and the private sector.

The current of director of national intelligence (DNI), James Clapper, who issued a stinging attack on the intelligence leaks this weekend, is a former Booz Allen executive. The firm's current vice-chairman, Mike McConnell, was DNI under the George W Bush administration. He worked for the Virginia-based company before taking the job, and returned to the firm after leaving it. The company website says McConnell is responsible for its "rapidly expanding cyber business".

James Woolsey, a former CIA director was also a Booz Allen vice-president, and Melissa Hathaway, another former company executive also once worked as the top aide on cybersecurity to McConnell when he was DNI. The company headquarters in the leafy Washington suburb of McLean in northern Virginia, close to CIA headquarters and home to former and current intelligence officers.

...Booz Allen is in turn majority owned by the Carlyle Group, a giant US-based investment fund with $17bn in assets.

The Carlyle Group also bought out Bain Capital in 2007, fwiw.

we don't know enough about what's going on to know what's happened.

that's how I see it, anyway.

But, yes, this group does defense contracting.

That would include NSA sorts of work, I would imagine, since it's a company that specializes in computer applications.

I think it's probably one of the intel agency's fronts.

I don't know what that has to say about Snowden and I think you're making a mistake to act like this is the money shot in a political porn vid.. tho, who knows, maybe that will turn out to be the case.

or maybe Snowden is Deep Throat.
