Daniel Ellsberg on CNN...

Last edited Mon Jun 10, 2013, 07:18 AM - Edit history (2)

for those interested.

ETA: Here's my quick recap

He supports Snowden, would have done the same thing.

He hopes this will cause another Church commission to investigate what's been going on.

He's concerned that any person can be compromised with surveillance, including politicians. Wonders how many people have access to the information (because Snowden said he himself could have spied on anyone) and the potential for serious abuse.

Questions whether we should classify it as a crime if it's exposing something blatantly unconstitutional.

Hopes this stimulates a serious national discussion about privacy and security.

EDIT: Here is the video, thanks to LttleBlue

Why would anyone listen to him? We knew about the Vietnam War for years before he gave the NYT those stolen documents.

Look, here's his file! Don't ask me where I got it.

And I am not a crook!

Remember, when the President does it, that means that it is not illegal!

crimes against Ellsberg-Hunt, Liddy and others broke into his psychiatrist's office and wiretapped him and such- that charges were dropped during the trial. Important stuff. Rumsfeld was part of that whole business as a young fascist.

13. No. He had something specific. And no particular anti-government agenda

That era had no such technology - they could not get a record of phone calls, or if they could, it would take up a lot of paper.

So there was no such issue.

The Pentagon Papers were mostly an indictment of the Democratic administration of Lyndon B. Johnson. The Pentagon Papers contained plans to invade Vietnam, even though President Johnson had told the public that he had no intention to stage an invasion.

He clearly did not read all the Blue LInks on DU defending this latest outrage
or he would know the REAL TRUTH as only some DUers can see it!

He's just working with Nader to suppress the Democratic Vote in 2014.
Besides, this is OLD News,
and nobody was upset when Bush did it.
