Senate passes SNAP cuts on a bipartisan 66-27 vote.

Now I started this conversation, http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022962403

Now, we have this.

The bill approved by the House Agriculture Committee last month would make much larger cuts to food stamps than the Senate version, in a bid to gain support from those House conservatives who have opposed the measure. The Senate bill would cut the food stamp program, now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, by about $400 million a year, or half a percent. The House bill would cut the program by $2 billion a year, or a little more than 3 percent, and make it more difficult for some people to qualify.

And as stated, the House bill has BIGGER cuts.

With so many people, many who work, in need, they seem to pan to make it harder for them.

With the way it looks now, it is those that are working for peanuts that are going to be hurt first.

FYI for readers: Their is an estimated 47 MILLION people on SNAP, a.k.a Food Stamps.

Why is there STILL no taking about a LIVING WAGE?

It was a way to combine the interests of rural and urban Congresspeople. It's also, for that matter, a subsidy to food producers and vendors as much as the recipients.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/11/us/politics/senate-passes-farm-bill-house-vote-is-less-sure.html?_r=0

WASHINGTON — The Senate approved a sweeping new farm bill on Monday that will cost nearly $955 billion over the next 10 years, the first step in a renewed attempt at passing legislation that will set the country’s food and agriculture programs and policy.

The worse of these bill is the one in the House. Think it is time for "We the People" to hit the phones and e-mail.

Wish we had more warning for this. But thanks to public and media attention was redirected, didn't happen.
