It wouldn't be an issue if Obama had actually done what he said he would do.

The problem here is that the democratic process has been rendered irrelevant. The question isn't about whether or not we're getting fucked, that's long been decided: all we get to choose is whose face will be looming over us when it happens.

The upshot of this is that some people are tuning out due to sheer depression. But the question is how long we'll passively accept this before anger boils over. The ruling class trick is to take as much as possible and make the current situation as bad as possible while leaving the uncertainty of rebellion unattractive. Push people to the point where anything would be preferable to the current system, they'll take their chances. Control is lost.

It all works fine right up until the point it doesn't. It's like watching a motorcycle race where the interval between "things are fine" and "this isn't going to end well" is a split second.
