There isn't a lie they can make up about Edward Snowden that will stop this train.

I'm depressed about it today. Can't figure out if it will ever be possible to unwind this giant monster and although I keep asking, I cant find anyone who has presented any solutions. The cat is out of the bag and much of it can be addressed as violating the constitution... but what about the private for profit war and surveillance state? What legal grounds do we have to stop it?

I can't answer your question because Snowden's leaks have set so many things into play and there are going to be many unpleasant reactions. Our allies, for one, aren't pleased at all that we've been hacking into their political, economic, industrial etc trade secrets. They're going to push back from the little people on the ground on up to their business communities concerned over privacy, industrial espionage and intellectual property theft. And the US knows it.

And we, the little people on the ground are going to push back too.

I don't think this is anything we can change on legal grounds, not with their sick army of lawyers, but on political grounds.
