Darrell Issa’s bluff on the IRS investigation is being called in a big way by top Democrats on Issa’s House Oversight Committee. In a letter sent today to Issa, they are demanding he explain in more detail why he continues to refuse to release full transcripts of witness testimony on the IRS scandal — and they are giving him until Monday to do so.

Cummings asks for a reply by Monday, which strongly suggests he will release the full transcripts himself if Issa doesn’t respond. From the letter:
In addition, since you have not sought my input on a protocol for how to handle the release of interview transcripts, I propose that our staffs meet to discuss a bipartisan procedure to handle these types of issues in the future. As I made clear on Sunday, although I fundamentally disagree with the unsubstantiated claims you have made about the IRS matter being driven by the White House to attack the President’s political enemies, you are the Chairman of this Committee, and I want to give you appropriate deference in conducting investigations. I believe we should proceed in a responsible manner in order to uphold the integrity of the Committee, and I continue to hope that we can focus in a bipartisan manner on an approach that maximizes transparency and accuracy.
Issa has already been pilloried by news organizations for failing to substantiate his more lurid charges of White House involvement in the IRS targeting, and his answer to this challenge will likely be seen by news orgs as another test of his credibility. If Cummings is right, and the transcripts dramatically undercut Issa’s claims, it’s unclear what Issa’s endgame is here.

Issa is being bent over the proverbial barrel, what they are saying to him is would you like some lubricant or should we put it in dry

As soon as he got the job, he changed his tune in public, but that's what he's about.
People outside the beltway that listen to a guy who is burning tax dollars in a way that hasn't been seen since Ken Starr's witchhunt need help. Starr bragged how he made enough to buy a house in the most expensive beachfront area of CA and set himself up for a life of luxury.
Nothing Issa comes up with is about stopping any fraud or corruption, as he won't go after Snowden's boss.
Or Blackwater (I don't care what their latest name to cover their filthy reputation is, they'll always be that.)
Or how Mitch got so rich in office (not from his salary, hint, hint).
Or Cantor and his bills to exempt himself from personally profitting by abusing his power as a form of insider trading.
No, Issa is acting as a dirty tricks operative.
But he knows he can't get dirt on Obama sufficient to impeach, as Obama follows the fucked up laws the GOP passed and continue to support with every vote. Including that 'you know who' everyone loves.
This was his way to hurt Obama in the election in 2012. That failed.
Now it's about stopping Obama getting a Congress and Senate in 2014 to get things done for America.
He'll keep it up right until 2016. This is one of the most blatant abuses of the authority of his office that I've seen since.
Well, since the last time a rethug was in charge of this. He's always been a sleazy little trickster:
A picture of Issa weeping after his orchestrating the recall of Gray Davis, after years of GOP gridlock to bankrupt the State of California, failed to give him the job.
Instead, Arnold Schwarzenegger got the nod from the GOP to become the Governator. Tough luck, Izzy.
