I'm trying to make peace with the fact that privacy no longer exists

at least as the concept I grew up with. Partly that's our own doing. People gave up privacy for technology and c'mon, we all knew that's what we were doing- or we should have.

so, corporations spy on us and our government does as well and so do some private citizens. Privacy doesn't exist in the virtual world at all and more and more every day, the virtual world melds with our physical realities- our cars, for instance.

This is the world we live in. Realistically, I don't think there's any way of going back. Think of it as Pandora's Box. It's open. Doesn't matter if you shut it, the contents are out.

Btw, this op isn't any kind of approval for corporate/government surveillance/observation/tracking/spying/whatever.

cultivated, fit for the new media & social communication which, while not stopping privacy invasions, would confuse and disgust snoopers. Something like a Labrador retriever fart.

Set up some "fake" computers that look like real computers so the malicious hackers out there find those and spend their time attacking the fake machines. You can watch them and see what they're trying to do, all the while at minimal risk to your real computers.

So, we set up a bunch of meaningless data out there about ourselves?

lived in a small town, even before they got telephone service and cars, knows that. One only needed to go to the local diner or bar to find out everything you wanted to know about anyone in town. This however is mining information that can be used against anyone in the future if they become undesirable to those presently in power. This is totalitarianism in its birthing stage. What if the religious fundamentalists gain power and control? If you are gay, or another person, who becomes undesirable because of whom you are and there are conversations you made in social media that prove that, they could be used against you. Maybe you won't be able to find work anymore or even end up in prison on any number of charges that could be blamed on gays. Just saying.

If they're going to do it, would you rather it be done under an Obama, or a Bush?

If you have nothing to hide and support this administration, what's the worry?
