once again teachers told to just deal with budget cuts.

The School Superintendent for WA state wants to do away with half days. Because of lack of funding some school districts have late start days or early release days so their teachers can do lesson planning. In my kids school district we have one once a week. My kids school day is 4 hrs one day a week instead of 6 hrs. The Superintendent says this takes away from instruction the kids need and places a burden on working parents. But instead of asking the legislature for more funding which by the way they must come up with more funding. Our state supreme court has found our legislators in violation of its own state constitution to fully fund k-12 education. Instead of asking for more funding to give teachers more support the Superintendent simply wants to do away with half days. In other words, just deal with the lack of funding and find a way to get it done anyway. Just like state standardized testing, this is yet another example of our state putting pressure on our schools and our teachers without giving them the funding and support they need.
Democratic politicians if you are listening, FUND OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS! The teachers, parents, and students have had it. We are fed up. Either fund our schools or lose our votes.
