Libertarians support your right to smoke pot

during the two hours you have off a week at your dollar an hour job moving toxic waste into a creek with your bare hands. Well, that is unless your boss tests you for it since he will probably only want you taking the mandatory amphetamines that keep you going.

But look on the bright side, your kids will probably be working there with you, since the public schools have been closed - maybe even granny.

Liberty I tell you!

Libertarians support abortion rights.

B1. What is the libertarian position on abortion?

Most libertarians are strongly in favor of abortion rights (the Libertarian Party often shows up at pro-rights rallies with banners that say "We're Pro-Choice on Everything!&quot . Many libertarians are personally opposed to abortion, but reject governmental meddling in a decision that should be private between a woman and her physician. Most libertarians also oppose government funding of abortions, on the grounds that "pro-lifers" should not have to subsidize with their money behavior they consider to be murder.

In general most Libertarians are more socially liberal than the average Democrat. Where they part ways is on the proper size and role of government.

In this they are CORRECTABLE, but let us be honest in admitting that there are no objectively correct answers to that question. One can even be a Randian Objectivist and reach the rational conclusion that it is within one's "rational self interest" to support government handling of social and infrastructure issues.

In reality, many on the left are confused about what the above two groups actually believe -- largely because some Republicans attempt to claim the mantle of these groups. Paul Ryan, for example, is neither Libertarian nor an Objectivist, and were Ayn Rand alive today she would spit in his smarmy face.

You wanna ride on that road? Pay up!

They don't want 'gubmints' spending money on road or bridge maintenance--leave it up to the private sector!!

After all, the private sector does a great job on so many things...like storing fertilizer in Texas...

Deng famously said. It doesn't matter if it is a white cat, or a black cat, so long as it catches mice.

Mao responded with a question. What capitalist told you that?

No one here is suggesting we campaign for Libertarians. But if they get elected, take the one or two issues we can agree on, and work together for a solution.

Of course, since you appear to be Mao in this one, I'll leave it to you to continue railing against capitalist cats who catch the mice.

I just would hate for young progressives to not fully understand what libertarianism means - helplessness before corporate power corporations control our government too much as it is, under a libertarian system we would have nobody to tell them they must pay or how they treat their workers except as they damn well wish. the minimum wage is too low and environmental regs are too lax thanks to this corporate power in government - try living without ANY minimum wage or environmental regs - because that is what libertarianism offer.

accountable. Yes, they want their pot. They also want to go to college and have jobs when they graduate. They want decent wages so they can travel the world or buy a house. They don't accept excuses. If a party doesn't give them what they want they may not vote. Do you know what that does? It pressures politicians to actually do something to earn people's votes. As a middle aged ex-democrat I am tired of just voting for someone because I'm told to vote for them. Do you know how stupid I feel for even falling for such nonsense. That I must vote for someone because someone told me to, so that the other guy won't win? I feel stupid and used and fed up. I will never vote for someone just to keep the other guy out again. The millenials are not going to be told who to vote for and neither will I. That means democrats will have to actually work to win their vote.

looking out for themselves. Period.

If they have a choice of voting for somebody who promises to get rid of taxes or somebody who promises to make pot legal, they go with the former.

ETA: Their position on abortion rights is irrelevant, because they would never vote for a pro-choice candidate anyway.

We won't have this wedge issue to divide us any longer.

The question about whether I am a socialist leaning Democrat or a Libertarian leaning one has been on my mind today for some reason. I want to think I am mostly a Socialist leaning Democrat, but there are some aspects of my personality that suggest I am at times a Libertarian leaning Democrat.

As for Libertarian candidates, they make my skin crawl as much as the GOP.

I used to think I was a liberal. Now I am a progressive because they made liberal a bad word.

Anyway I am not sure what your message is, so that's my response.

We don't know what the Feds will do. They could aggressively shut down grow operations and pot stores. No one knows what that even means. The state is seeing dollar signs. People who are already breeding pot plants have an edge and the rootstock. They already control it like sharecroppers. The really good bud comes from certain plants. Starts off those plants cost an arm and a leg. Will tobacco companies appropriate the hippie/biker culture pot grown in the Pacific Northwest and adulterate it with chemicals, turn it into something that looks and smokes like a Marlboro? Big business is no doubt ready to invade our state.

I hope if there is money to be made it is made by the citizens of this state not some multinational corporations.

We have a lot of wheatfields in this state. I wonder how long before they all start growing bud? It will be interesting to watch what happens in the next few years.

Do you really think the rank and file Democrat opposes legalization? I figure it's coming eventually. From the West to the East. This time our age was an advantage as we formed our Constitutions. We could see that many in the East had no direct voice in their state governments having long since ceded such power away. So we gave voters the right introduce legislation. It is a headache at times, but it should be a feature at every level of our government.
