Sometimes we take them for granted . . . .

James Gandolfini was such a man. Sure, we all knew him for his brilliant portrayal of Tony Soprano. But look at the other things he did, things that were not entertainment, but things he was able to do more effectively than you or I because he was famous.

He was, to use a phrase Tony might have used, a stand up guy.

He stood up for issues we hold dear.

He stood up for wounded veterans even as he stood against war.

He stood up for and with union workers. He himself was a union worker.

He did this quietly. But he did it.

Rest well, Mr. Gandolfini. My thoughts are with all who loved you.

Holsten's

[IMG][/IMG]

Of all the scenes the great James Gandolfini shot in his acting career, the final scene of his defining character, Tony Soprano, remains the most iconic.

That scene, and the now infamous cut to black, was shot at an Ice Cream shop in New Jersey called Holsten’s.

And as a tribute to the actor, the owners of the restaurant have put a reserved sign on the famous table where that iconic scene was shot for the entire day.

I dont watch much TV except for news but I heard (on MSNBC) this morning that he paved the way for ANTI-heroes for TV dramas. I really dont see the redeeming qualities for that.
And he also held up The Sopranos shooting for 2 or 3 days and nobody knew where he was.

Let me say this as well, he earned his place with his talent. He was not born to it or to beauty. He earned it.
