The Black Forest fire in Colorado is now 100% contained but...

there are 4 or 5 other fires that have blown up.

The smoke has consumed the city of Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak is not visible from downtown area. The fires are growing rapidly and the weather is forecast to be hot and dry for the next week or so.

It is strange that we got very little smoke from the Black Forest fire and it was real close to the city. The present fires are scattered throughout the state and are quite a distance away. Yet, the smoke is carried by the winds right up to Monument Hill and counter clockwise toward Pikes Peak.

When is it going to end??

did you notice the sun tonight around 7? looked like a very angry red ball in this wall of smoke. glad I don't have respiratory problems.

We couldn't cool the place with the AC, and we couldn't open the windows because of all the smoke that affected my roommate, on 95 degree days.

But for a day or two, things were really miserable.

was reading one article, and one of the incident commanders was saying, "close your doors and windows to keep the smoke out. . .but don't leave them closed too long" (and, believe it or not, that was not the dumbest remark reported)
